A mosaic being pieced together in a traditional method. The artist who was working on this piece also did the “Imagine” mosaic at Strawberry Fields in New York. We happened upon his small shop while in Italy.

Thank you so much Picture_To_Paint, I’ve added your Vatican Studio micromosaic works in progress above. They’re absolutely incredible! 🙂
I am actually thankful to the holder of this web site who has shared this wonderful post at here.
I have a mosaic tile painting created by T. Franchino and purchased from Mondo Cattolico in Rome in 1985. Has anyone found out anything about this artist and what his work might be valued at. The piece is called “Da Roma Sparita.”
Wondering what you can tell me about a Italian mosaic artist by the name of Franelino or Framelino. Is he still alive? I bought one of his mosaics at the Vatican in 1993. Thank you for any help you can give me.
I am not sure the place you’re getting your info, however great
topic. I needs to spend some time finding out more or working out more.
Thanks for wonderful info I was looking for this info for my
mission.
thank you for sharing the beautiful mosaic pictures. do they offer any summer courses in micro-mosaic? i would love to learn it during summer 2013. thank you thank you!

Hi there!
So.
I’m having difficulty to get some information about Studio del Mosaic Vatican.
Is that you can tell me some email or phone that I could contact? Or email director Paolo Buono?
Thank you.

I bought my mosaic in 1990. T. Franchino at the time was 90 and blind in one eye. The Vatican store claims in a brochure that they gave out that he donated his art work to the Smithsonian. Unfortunaltely, they never heard of him and one curator told me that he is not as famous as we think. He is still alive but not in his nineties. I was disppointed that the Vatican mislead us. I contacted 60 minutes years ago and they do not want to touch anything that has to do with the Vatican. Enjoy your expensive mosaic maybe he will be famous one day.
I also purchased a micromosaic at the Vatican gift shop in 1993. I also am unable to find the artist, Franchino. At the time, we were told he was very elderly, and his mosaics would be limited, therefore making ours more valuable. I am disappointed as we thought we had purchased a valuable piece.
I also paid a hefty price for a T. Franchino Mosaic from the Vatican store 17 years ago. I was told by the clerk at the time there were four Vatican masters. He had just retired and he was the best. I just visited the store last month and took a look at the mosaics the had for sale. There was absolutely no comparison. Mine looks like a painting as the pieces of glass are so small and the detail is so fine. The works now are much larger pieces of glass without nearly the same level of exquisite detail. While I may not get validation because of the aftermarkets lack of knowledge or appreciation I can see for myself the talent, beauty and worth of my piece. I am appreciative and amazed at its quality.
When we bought two micromosaics at the Vatican Store we did not doubt their value. Now we are beginning to wonder. Can anyone tell us what the current vaue of micromosaics by Telesforo Franchino would be worth?
We purchased two micromasiacs by Telesforo Franchino in the 1990’s. Did not doubt value until just now as we need to sell them. Can’t find much information. Can anyone help? Was there really a Telesforo Franchino?

I would like to find info on Prof. A Buccioni and Paesaggio in refence to a Mosaic #0045 purchesed in 1982 outside the Vatican
I also purchased a small mosaic by T. Franchino in 1994 but the only info on the artist I have found is in the rants of internet fourms which seem to indicate that anyone who purchased artworks from Mondo Catholico likely paid way too much and I suspect were all victims of a heavenly fraud! But don’t frett…hold on to your piece. I’m sure that in two or three hundred years it will be worth a small fortune…
Do you have any info on an artist named Franchino? I purchased a micromosaic piece in a gift shop in Vatican city in 1989.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Sincerely,
Pat Courson
I also have a Franchino mosaic purchased in 1989 by my mother. I am also trying to find information about it. Good luck!
I am interested in micro mosaic courses – I am looking for a master class as I have been making mosaics for many years. Could anyone recommend a suitable course please? I hear there is a good one in Rome – but would also be interested to know about anyone’s experience of the micro mosaic course at the Orsoni school in Venice. Thank you
I visted the Vatican in 1988 and purchased a small mosaic of Lake Como. I see it in the photograph on this site, framed exactly like mine! I am looking to purchase another one – but the one I want is of the Michaelangelo painting from the Cystine Chapel. they had that one for sale when I was there alos, but I did not buy it and have wished I had ever since. Are these still for sale and if so, is there a catalog or website with selectinos and prices?
Thank you!
Beverly– I believe I purchased the mosaic you are looking for. I purchased it at the Vatican in 1993. Do you still want to purchase it? Email me back at ltlbityone@ aol.com

I wonder if you have any info about Studio Del Mosaico. S. C. della REV. Fabrica di S. Pietro in Vaticano No. 1979 A. The mosaic of St. Gemma Galgani. I received this mosaic as a gift this spring from a friend of mine. If you can provide me with any info about this mosaic, I would appreciate it.
Thank you for your help, .
I was wondering if you have ever heard of a mosaic artist whose last name is spelled Franelino or Framlino. My wife and I bought a piece created by him or her a few years ago from the Vatican studio. Any info would be much appreciated.
John Sweeder
I also purchased one of his mosaic pieces in the Vatican studio. I think we got sold a bill of goods !!! I have tried for years to find this artist – no luck.
Much more than art – a labor of love. Thank you for having the patience a normal human being does not possess.
