Just like the 1939 World’s Fair time capsule, the 1964 version is not buried under its commemorative mosaic, either. It is beneath a large concrete shaft elsewhere on the grounds.
A partial list of the time capsule here includes “material from Echo II Satellite, Kent Filter Cigarrettes [sic] … freeze dried foods, irradiated seeds, a plastic heart valve, an electric toothbrush and desalted Pacific Ocean Water.”
And Kent Cigarettes is assured a permanent ad for 5,000 years. Neat!
