Mosaic artist in awe... the web is so full of inspiration, thanks for sharing everyone!
Dear “bitsandpiecesmosaics”,
Thanks for stopping by in Flickr and leaving a pleasant note about some of pictures made in Zeugma.
I litteraly fell in admiration for çingene’s face while reading Turkish Airlines in-flight magazine once. A few weeks later I had found a way to go and visit the museum in Gaziantep. The ceramics there are very much loaded with emotions, as well as a sense of a rich local social life at the time. Many of them are signed by the artists. They are said to be the the second best in the world after those of Antioch. I actually don’t like these rankings and prefer, much as I would with a good bottle of wine, to trust my own perception. çingene definitely inspired me a deep sense of admmiration for the model, the artist and the materials used to create the nuances in the face. I also played with the picture itself and felt that if you look at one side of the face at a time, you may see a girl on one and a boy on the other.
I currently live in Turkey and if you ever need some tips about this country, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
All my best encouragement for your work on ceramics. It is a great way to express feelings.
Jean
