Smalti is prepared by adding crystalline material (corpo) and coloured material (anima) to the colourless or coloured fused glass. A mosaic being pieced together in a traditional method. The artist who was working on this piece also did the “Imagine” mosaic at Strawberry Fields in New York. We happened upon his small shop while in Italy.

History of Birmingham Mosaic, originally uploaded by ßlϋeωãvε.
Flower seller and high-society woman. This mosaic was found (somewhat surprisingly) on the Holloway Circus roundabout in Birmingham. I think it shows the history of Birmingham.
