Thanks a lot for sharing with my mosaic photos from sicily.
I shall upload quite a lot more next month as I unfortunately do not have more free memory space on the flickr server actually.
I shall give more details on the source of these photos. They are amazing. It is said, that the owner of this villa was an animal trader in the time of the Roman Empire and he used the mosaics as advertisement catalogue for his clients showing them the biests from Africa therein.
Beside quite a number of animals to be seen, there are also many mystic and story telling pictures made in colourful mosaics.
Regarding the photos themselves it was rather mysterious, too. I used a digital camera type LUMIX DMC-FZ20 from Panasonic with approx. 5,7 mio pixels. This camera serves very well my demands for bright colour-true and detailled shots. 12-time optical zoom with a proven effective stabilisator. So, the mystery was, that all mosaics had been covered from dust and showed more pale than clean colours. Therefore I bought a booklet to save an aspect of professional photos therein for me after being returned home. But, today in a number of the self-made photos I recognize much better details and perfect colours.
By the way, I shall add even some impressing mosaics which I found in the Jordanian desert some 30 years ago under a torn tent cover secured by a friendly watchman. It was a running excavation at tat time.
Thanks again for your kind interest.
And best regards from Germany sent by vouffy
